Science Dept - Julia Olstad

Hello! My name is Julia Olstad, and this is my eighth year teaching science in a high school setting. My career at Fillmore Central began January of 2012. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time here thus far! I grew up in Rushford, MN and graduated from Rushford-Peterson High school in 2003. In December 2007, I graduated from the University of Wisconsin-LaCrosse with my Bachelors in Biology, then received my teaching license from the University of Minnesota-Mankato in May 2010. December of 2015 I completed my Master of Arts in Teaching, which has given me the opportunity to now teach college-credit class of Anatomy & Physiology here at Filmore Central. I thoroughly enjoy teaching this class each year!
My husband, Levi, and I were married August 2011 and have lived in Harmony for five years. It's been great to be a part of the community! In May of 2014, we had a baby girl, Madeline Elizabeth. Then in March of 2017, Samuel Dale was born, quite unexpectedly in the passenger seat of his dad's Chevy pickup! Life is pretty crazy with these two, but they have added so much joy and laughter into our lives! We also have a dog named Bo and a cat named Frank, both of which entertain us daily.
My hobbies include hanging out with the kiddos, showing/riding horses, being active outdoors, traveling, cooking/eating good food, and spending time with family & friends.
This year I will be teaching Physical Science, Biology, and Anatomy & Physiology. Please don't hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns.
